February 11 to 17 is observed as the Week of passenger safety and child in this context, the American Automobile Association (AAA) and Minnesota Safety Council has teamed up to promote the importance of securing the passengers safely to their child seats.

Their efforts to educate parents on how to properly secure their most precious cargo is due to the fact that many passengers are children not properly secured. This is one of the foremost reasons why automobile accidents are still the leading cause of death among children aged four to fourteen. Contrary to this, however, for the last twenty years, 7,500 lives were saved by car seats properly installed child.

In 2005 alone, an average of five children under 14 were killed in a car accident every day. Apart from this, 640 children were injured every day this year. The figure is so alarming that the AAA Minnesota / Iowa is working hard to educate parents and caregivers and the importance of restraint is a child safety toddler.

Gail Weinholzer, director of public affairs for AAA Minnesota / Iowa, said they will not be the only hard work during the week of the safety of children passengers, but during throughout the year as well. The car lobby group has also teamed up with the Security Council of Minnesota to promote the new website developed in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

The main concern of the coalition is to increase awareness among parents of children aged four to seven years. This is because of all infants in the U.S. only ten to twenty per cent are not properly secured to their car seats or may not use booster seats at all. The AAA and the Minnesota Safety Council is reminding parents that children aged four to eight who are properly secured in booster seats are more likely to avoid serious injury or even death accident.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia cited the figure of 59 per cent chance of survival of children properly restrained their booster seats on those who are protected by a seat belt.

To help parents protect their children when crash, the AAA has learned some simple tricks for them to follow. The boards are easy to follow, just as it is easy to read a title = "Volvorepairmanual"> Volvo Repair Manual. One of which is to place children in rear seats for children to security in the back seat so long that the seat can accommodate children. They should use child safety rear-facing seat until the child is at least one year and weighs at least 20 pounds. When they get rid of their seats Rear-facing, children should be secured to a seat forward-facing child safety, but should still ride in the back seat. Children should use this seat until about four years old or weigh at least 40 pounds.

When the child has passed their forward-facing safety seats for children, parents are invited to provide booster seats for them. They have yet to ride in the back seat, but until they are old enough to be properly restrained by seat belts vehicle. Usually at the age of 8, when they reached a height of four feet and nine inches tall, they can now use tower on the large person sitting in the back. Proper installation of seat belts should be checked by parents. They may also opt for safety features that prevent children from accidentally or intentionally unbuckle the seat belt.
