Infant not dealing with hot outside temperatures well? Please help me...Please!!!?
I have a four month who had a rare adrenal hemorrage when he was born. After two months the hemorrage went down and the endocrinoligists say that all his tests are just fine.
I keep the house pretty chilly because I get hot easily. If he gets hot by going outside or just being somewhere where it is hotter inside he becomes blotchy, puffy faced, red-faced, cries uncontrollably, his feet swell, and turn a pale pink that is abnormally colored. He turns so red that he looks like he will have a stroke. He is clammy but does not sweat well when this happens. His thyroid has been checked in June and was fine.
I dont know what to do. Doc wants me to give him benadryl when it happens to calm him sooner, but I dont know what else to do. It is not that he stays outside he just gets warm and the warm goes to hot in five seconds.
Does anyone have any experience with this?? My doc seems unconcerned, so don't know what to do. I am worried!!
You may need a new doctor.
Heck, take the child to one of those "doc-in-the-box" places, like Care Now, and get a second--or third--opinion. If this persists, and the child is genuinely having problems, then for heaven's sake, go to an emergency room. ER docs are among the best around, and can give you good advice. In the meantime, once again, you may need to be looking for a new pediatrician.
