Does anyone use an Evenflo infant seat?
I was looking at getting the Aura select travel system from Babies R Us that comes with the Embrace car seat, but the sales rep said he doesn't recommend this brand and started to show me more expensive models like Chicco and Britax (do they get commission or something? lol). My thoughts are that they wouldn't sell a car seat that isn't safe and although the weight extension is nice on some of them, I'm probably not going to want to carry the baby around after he's 20 pounds in that seat anyways. I'll just get a convertible seat that rear faces and forward faces at that point.
So, are the Evenflo seats really that bad? I just wonder why I was steered away from this brand, should I take this as a forewarning or go with it?
The Evenflo seat isn't a bad seat, but it isn't one I typically recommend. The stroller seems to be fine for one child, and it folds easier than most, but it typically doesn't hold up well when passed down. For the seat itself I firmly beleive the Chicco is the best out there, and my second choice would be a Graco Snugride.
The 22lb Chicco system is about $150 more than the Evenflo, but you can get a Graco system for about the same price.
Over the past 2 years I have never seen a Chicco returned for problems. Probably 1 out of 30 Gracos returned, mostly because they bought a large model like the Quattro Tour (27lbs) then realized it didn't fit in their trunk. About 1 out of 10 Evenflos come back because the customer felt it was not the quality they thought it should be.
Babies R Us employees don't work on commision, but they often get more training on higher end products, and then feel more comfortable selling those items.
Hope this helps,
Alan
