Evenflo Discovery Recall?
Does anyone know any information about Evenflo Discovery infant car seat recall?
Consumer report recently did a review of many infant carseats, soon after they had to withdraw their results because they were not tested properly. I think there were various reasons but among them they claimed that the seats were tested at a certain speed limit when they were tested at a speed limit much higher than what was claimed.
The results had comsumer report so worried that they urged the feds to recall the Evenflo Discovery. they claimed that it moved and shifted in an accident. Evenflo took matters into their own hands and did some testing and they found(as well as the NHTSA, i believe) that the seats met government standards and the recall was taken back.
Aftering reading about all this i sort of wondered, isn't it better than consumer report tested at higher speed limits than the government stadard of 35MPH? i would think id be better if there were tested at at least 65mps since many accidents do occur on freeways, but alas they concluded that the study they did on all those infant carseats were bogus. They also dont know how many other tested they did weren't right. i happened to get this issue on consumer report too. its too bad for all those people who went out and got new ones! i'd be upset.
