Need Recommendation for Booster seat upgrade?
Hello,
My daughter is 19mths, 37lbs & 36" tall with fat thighs. We currently have the Deluxe High Back Booster by Eddie Bauer. Seat goes up to 22-100bs and 34"-52" children's height. Problem is because her thighs are so big the straps at almost to small to go over them. She is a big child due to her born in April 2007 at 11bs4ozs and 22" in length. She's not over weight but just a bit bigger than most children her age. So now we are tying to find a car seat/booster to accommodate her big thighs.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
At this age, she should still be ina 5 pt harness, she is too young for a booster. Have you checked the fit of an Evenflo Symphony65 or the Graco MyRide 65? These seats harness to 65 lbs, a much safer way to transport your child. My 4 yr old is in the Symphony 65, I rear-faced to his 4th birthday, he is about the same size as your daughter (but bean pole thin). He is now harnessed in the seat till he hits 65 pounds, then it will convert to a booster with seat belt to 100 lbs. The seat seems wide. Some like the Graco as the straps supposedly go to a higher size than Evenflo. I got my seat at ToysRUs. Their 'car seat expert' tried to sell me a minimally safe seat, said he could FF when he was 1 year. I go for the safest. The new recommendations are to keep your child RF to at least age two, or to the limit on the convertible seat. The seats at our ToysRUs can be pulled down, and you could try her to she how she fits. I never cared for the Eddie Bauer seats, felt like you were just paying for the name. For a more expensive seat, Sunshine Kids Radian 80 is nice and bigger (found online), but I think she might be on the 'thick side' for the seat.
