Why is the car seat loose at the back?
Just bought my son a new car seat that can be used both forward and rear facing. It fits kids 5-40 pounds. My son is 22 pounds but not yet 1 year old, so it needs to go in rear facing. After hooking it in as the instructions tell you, the back of the car seat (which is facing out because it is rear facing) seems really loose. The base is secure but the back of the car seat moves side to side too much. What could I be doing wrong? It's not using the latch because it doesn't take the latch in rear facing, it only uses the belts. Please help!!
I had to go to a car seat check to get mine tight enough. A huge man had to sit in it while 2 other ladies pulled as tight as they could on the seat belt. So now when I switch mine out I just have 2 other people help, one to sit in it and one to help pull... they also put one of those rubber grip things under the car seat, it helped keep it from moving side to side. They are such a pain to put in rear facing.
Also if you can't do it yourself you can go to the police station or the fire house, they will do it for free... and I'm sure their strong enough to get it tight!
